Dis goes out to all the ladies, or men if you agree with rights of da ladies too :3 And how overtime, women have recieved a lot of crap when we deserve equal stuff too and blah blah blah. xD And I wanted to know, why are women considered minorities in the first place??
Aside from the misconception that it was because "God created Adam first" or some shyt xD In actuality, the first recorded ancient civilization Mesopotamia (land between the two rivers) tracked back to 8000 to 2000 BCE (Judaism, mother religion of christianity's "torrah" or "first testement" doesnt come along until 1250 and 150 BCE) along the middle east, had a leader named Hammurabi. In which during this time, he created a famous book of laws called "Hammurabi's code" (yesh, I love learning about theology in school xD) which contained things such as:
law 132: If "the finger is pointed" at a mans wife about another man, but she is not caught sleeping with the other man, she shall jump into the river for [the sake of] her husband
law 143: "If she is not innocent, but leaves her husband, and ruins her house, neglecting her husband, this woman shall be cast into the water"
not only that, but women were not even put on the caste system for this civilization. All we would do is make babies and dinner D:
so yeah, if u would like to figure out WHY women get all the crap they do, plz tell me because I have no idea how this even started D: But I am proud to be said lady, and so should all of u beautiful women in teh internets xD

If you would really like to know why, why are women consider to be "inferior" to men,
it has a lot to do with genetics, how men are statistically more powerful and forceful and how women are more nurturing leaving them to take care of the offspring. It has to do with culture as well, not all cultures look at women as inferior beings, some women were even monarchs with great social power just a few eras ago and some still today hold a great amount of power.

It is burned into our societies minds through the course of history that we have taken. Today society and the standards of sexuality is dominated by the white, middle-class, heterosexist males, which might have a lot to do with why our culture for so long has looked down upon women in such a way. But we must admit it is slowly improving, just like it did for blacks and now as we are becoming more educated with each generation, the ideas of homosexuality are also becoming more welcomed.

Alas, we still have a ways to go I'm afraid. =/

I'm impressed on your base of knowledge concerning theology =]
though it is interesting subject, I hardly dive deep into the matter.

If anything children at the age of eight years should be learning about evolutionary biology (not the watered down version!) in science class.

As for God, I do not like discussing much on that matter either, unless someone is interested in debating, I will say this much, God has nothing to do with gender roles and how we think as human beings, it's all the things I've mentioned combined that make our beliefs and views.. though some peoples beliefs do in fact consist with a God, how foolishly improbable that might be.

If you're really interested you should take a course in college called "Human Sexuality" interesting and fun, I might add, it explains in great detail about gender roles and how we fit in today's culture.

I can't stand feminism. Well... I guess that's not entirely true, just half of the time I really, really dislike it? I have bad experiences extreme feminists and they just sort of cemented my dislike for women.

It's not that I don't think woman should have rights, it's just I think we do have plenty of rights, especially here in the US. And yet women still bitch and moan that we're not getting 'equal rights' to men. What about when we give men shit for things they should have a right to do also? There's always going to be double standards in everything and people need to get off this such-and-such gender/race has more rights than such-and-such.

There is never going to be anything called equal rights for anyone. We're human. You really think our race will ever really give equal rights to people? Please.

Feminists need to like, go rot. ._. Especially the pro-life ones.

They also tend to group everyone together. It doesn't matter that there are actually some minor societies where women have more say than men or where everyone is treated equally. They only see themselves as victims and it just goes on and on.

But I think (and that´s bad for me) in some years, you girls will maybe more superior then us males.
Because, we men were made to be strong and stuff.
But you girls are often turned out to be smarter and that´s what´s needed today.
You girls are the underdogs that will rise above us.
Or maybe it won´t even come to that.
Maybe we will really all be equal. Because men are now on top.
But as soon as we will see, that you ma be superior, we will come up with "yeah... equal rights..." just because we don´t want the same thing that happend to you over the centuries to also happen to us.

Uhm, kindly excuse me for I am about to go all theoretical and stuff. (I'm a Political Science student, I can't help it sometimes. XD)

I personally think of myself as a feminist... a liberal feminist, that is. I just read Cherry Dynamite's post and I'm a bit apprehensive. Please don't burn me. Anyway, I think the feminists that Cherry Dynamite has come across with are radical feminists. The thing is, for liberal feminists, the reason that women are marginalized in society is because of the institutions in society which are largely dominated by men. Liberal feminists argue that in order to achieve equality between the sexes, we have to do transform our institutions into gender-equal ones, that is, through political and legal reform. It's a more individualistic and neutral form of feminism. Radical feminists, on the other hand, blame it all on the patriarchal system of society. This movement is known for popularizing the phrase, 'the personal is political' which characterizes how radical feminists view even personal relationships as a form of men's oppression of women.

I think it's quite difficult to say just exactly where, when and how the oppression of women began, different feminist perspectives (liberal, radical, socialist, marxist, etc.) have different views and different cultures have different perceptions of women as well. But personally, I think much of it can be owed to biology since men are really born physically stronger than women, which makes them the ideal breadwinner of the family, hence acquiring economic leverage over their wives because they bring income into the household. And women, thanks to our biological ability to bear children, are naturally relegated to taking care of the children, and where else are we supposed to take care of our children but at home, hence, the housemaker role. Natural 'male' and 'female' roles do tend to give men the upperhand, however, in modern times, women are given access to education and are allowed to participate in the labor force, giving them more financial autonomy and less reason to be dependent on their male counterparts. I think there's still hope for 'gender equality' (and not just men and women but gay and lesbians, too). XD

Feminism...that's a hard theme... I can say that i think like Cherry...It's not that I dislike women, but feminist women get on my nerves. I got one in my class and she is super noisy. O.k. she comes from Iran where woman are suppressed , i can understand her but she is fighting all the time for women rights, that's a bit annoying . I know in some parts of world women are treated like garbage or piece of furniture,but asking for all rights that man have? I think that's a bit too much, because ,naturaly women are emotional and not so strong like men. Woman like a pro boxer? yuk. Woman a pro wrestler? wtf?
There are just some thing that woman can't do. Just be happy with thing you can do and that's that.
I know that women does not get paid like man,that's all right to fight for, but when woman give a birth to a child and after 6 weeks goes to work, thats not right, children need love and attention of mothers, and fathers. Feminist can fight for womens rights, but some times they overdoing it.
And,what did I notice that roles are changed now, women chase men, not the other way . For me that's not nice anymore...Man staying at home instead of women and other things... I don't say religion has anything to do with it, that's our nature... think..

It is true that in today's current setting, brains over powers that of brawns, due to our advancements in superior technology.

Saying women are smarter than men is looking at the population in a more statistical view point, nothing wrong with that, but you would also have to take in account that the homosexual male's brain is very much similar to the female heterosexual's brain, for example both homosexual men and hetero women have a smaller hypothalamus, which controls fight (strength), flight (speed or how fast your reactions are), hunger and sex (or who you're sexually attracted too), there are also many other things the hypothalamus controls (like body temperature, weight gain or lose, etc.) but the four listed above are compared and almost identical in homosexual males and heterosexual females.

So one might say that the smaller your hypothalamus the more likely you are to be attracted to the male species! To compare the research we looked at homosexual females hypothalamus and heterosexual males and you've probably already guessed it, the hypothalamus in both were large, very much larger than that of the homosexual males and hetero females.

So statistically speaking, homosexual males and heterosexual females have a higher IQ score when tested compared to that of homosexual females and heterosexual males. But of course that's just statistically speaking! There are always individual cases, so the information above does not pertain to everyone. There could be a homosexual women or heterosexual male far more intelligent than that of a homosexual male or heterosexual female.

From the information above this just points that sexuality is quite innate and science points towards the biological factors of it being so. (But it's not just all biological, your sexuality has a lot to do with culture and environmental causes as well).

But I digress, I must stop my scientific ranting, I've probably bored you all, if you even attempted to read this long statement haha

It's not from religion it's from sexist men.

How can we know religion is right?

It is written by men and interpreted by men.

Men are physically stronger than us, but that's general it's not a law same as women being more intelligent and sensitive.

As for males staying at home and women chasing men etc... I am for it, the world needs progress, we should not be seen as the weakly gender and wait for the man to ask us for a date, so if he asks another woman then we loose a chance, if we don't like him should we still say yes? If a woman chooses not to marry and have children and chooses a career instead, is she doing badly? If a woman wants muscles is that wrong?

No a woman has the right to choose, that's what feminism was about in the beginning, now it's a misunderstood word which is used to stereotype women who can't stand to be seen as a doormat and used for some other women to obtain rights only when they feel is right. Some feminist lose all my respect when they want only their rights and not others, and when they are ready to help only the white heterosexual female and not all females!

I live in a country where women can't find a job in IT, Mechanical and other jobs that are considered manly is that right? Of course not. One's ability shouldn't be judged by what you have between your legs.

I live in a family where I am respected less than my brother because of oh shat, I happened to be a female!

Proud to be the owner of a vagina, not so much because even though there has been lots of progress we still live in a sexist world, and some women/girls contribute to it because of their whorish behavior and dumbness, the problem is that we all get labeled like them.

This also got misinterpreted as for men thinking that we don't like courtesy. Far away are the times where men were well educated during courting, now it's all about sex and dirty talk, even manners are not respectful anymore.

Romanticism is seen as anti-feminist nowadays, when in reality romanticism is one of the most feminine things!
