I could feel it. My heart was beating rapidly, and I couldn’t get myself to inhale the air which only made my heart beat that much faster. I gasped loudly finally allowing myself to take in the air. How could this be happening? My heart just couldn’t handle it, I felt tears weave their way down my face and I didn’t even try to stop them. When it finally registered in my head that what I had just seen wasn’t a dream, I had already been sitting there for about five minutes. I jumped up from the bed, and ran over to the dresser. Opening it I reached in and grabbed some pants, and was about to put them on when I realized I was already dressed. I threw the pants on the floor, and bounded to the door, opening it quickly.
As I ran down the hallway I could see that my vision was becoming blurry because of the tears that had welled up in my eyes. Angrily, I wiped them away but this did no good because the ones that were wiped away were immediately replaced. I didn’t care anymore, all I knew was that I had to reach Haru as quickly as possible. Many of my fellow classmates were glaring at me, many with concerned faces and worried eyes. I didn’t have time to explain myself, and I had no intention of stopping but Ty stood in my way. Ty is a pretty good looking guy, and I’ve known that he has had a crush on me since grade school.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my legs to stop running. My mind was saying ‘Stop!’ but my legs were saying, ‘Keep going.’ Needless to say, I ended up running head-on into Ty but didn’t knock him over considering I have such a small body and I’m not very tough. He smiled down at me, and I was afraid that he was going to hug me or something but he didn’t. “Where are you going in such a hurry?” he questioned actually sounding a bit curious.
I didn’t have time for this; I couldn’t sit here and have small talk with him, not now. “Emergency,” I said bluntly, and ran off again before he could do or say another thing. I looked back once just to see if he’d followed me, and he looked slightly confused and concerned. “I’ll have to explain it to him later…” I thought. I ran out the front door, and went over to the bike rack. I picked the first bike I saw, considering it wasn’t locked, and sped away down the road.
After about ten minutes of pedaling I came to a pay phone, I dug into my pocket and pulled out four quarters and a dime. I put the quarters in, pressed the numbers, and waited for someone to answer. “Hello, this is Rozaku Hospital, how may we be of service to you?” came a high pitched voice, obviously belonging to a women.
“Y-yes, I was wondering if you have a Haru Yumazki there,” I stuttered.
“A Haru Yumazki you say? Ok, let me check the system,” the woman’s voice came again. I waited, and tapped my finger against my side getting impatient, I never realized that thirty seconds could feel like a year. “Yes, we’ve recently checked him in, but unless you’re family we cannot allow you to see him today,” the woman said. My heart sank, couldn’t see him today? I couldn’t settle for that.
“I’m family. I’m his cousin… Hayate Yumazki,” I lied.
The woman paused briefly, “Well Mr. Hayate, we’ll be waiting for your arrival then,” the woman stated.
“Ok, thanks,” I said, and hung up the phone with a click. ‘Good, they think I’m family hopefully the rest will be easy,’ I thought to myself as I set off down the sidewalk once more.
A bit later I arrived at the hospital hot, sweaty, and tired but I refused to rest. I raced into the hospital at full speed as if my little trip hadn’t had any effect what so ever on me. When I got inside, I glared around for the front desk which I soon spotted out of the corner of my eye. I practically ran over to the women at the desk, “Can… can you tell me… what room Haru Yumazki is… in?” I puffed. Seeing her death glare I added, “I’m his cousin, Hayate Yumazki.”
“Room 212,” she said shortly. “Try not to disturb him too much, will you?” she said sternly.
“Of course, I won’t be a bother,” I promised and ran over to the elevator. I pressed the number three and waited. Of course, just because I was in a hurry about ten more people had to get on this elevator. When I finally got off, I ran down the hallway looking at each and every number until I finally came to room number 212. I opened the door quietly and peered in, Haru was lying in the bed and just his appearance made me feel horrible.
He had numerous scratches on his face, his arm looked as if it had only stopped bleeding recently, and his leg was bruised pretty badly. I couldn’t help notice that he looked adorable the way he was laying. His head was to the side his hair lay across his face completely covering his left eye. The blanket was pulled up exposing his legs, which I immediately took notice that he wasn’t wearing his normal long boxers but his short ones. Haru looked as if he had planned it or something, and I couldn’t resist. I felt my legs move by themselves taking me over to his side. I leaned over planting both of my arms on either side of him, and lowered my head so that my lips were only inches from his.
I leaned over and gave Haru a passionate kiss, when I rose up again I noticed that his eyes were open now. “I.. love you too,” I mumbled and pulled him into a soft hug so that I wouldn’t hurt him.
Ya, I'll probably have more 'action' in the next one.. if I have a next one.. but for now..
