Can you explain Silent Hill?

I'm currently playing Silent Hill 2 and I just remembered the movie version of it.

I watched "Silent Hill" movie a few years ago and instead of being scared to death
it left me. . . wondering. After the movie ended I was like
"Uh..Huh. What happened to them?"

From what I remember, the ending was the wife with her daughter
safe at their home and the husband was also safe at the same home
but they don't see each other. It's like they are in different dimensions.

I can't remember what they generally SAY at the end. But it was about mom's being god in the eye of a child.

Well the little girl made it to where they were still stuck there, in the Silent Hill realm (so that they would be safe forever). Because Silent Hill is made as a (kind of) safe-haven for the little girl.

So they are in the silent hill realm and can't leave and the husband is in the real world realm. I had someone explain this to me too so don't worry...

hey I might be little off-topic but I want to know what the combat gameplay is like... I read that there are three things in the game - combat, exploration, and puzzle solving and I searched for videos to see what the combat part is like, but I couldn't find anywhere... can you give me some videos or at least try to explain it? I'm wondering about playing it but I'm not too fond of games without decent battles.

I've never played the game but from what i've seen and heard it's not in first person view (thank god, it would be even more scary for me) but basicly they come at you and if they get to close they attack and you basicly have to shoot them before they crawl, walk, fly, etc. over to you.

Also, just like in the movie, the combat stuff (like monsters coming for you) doesn't happen until you start hearing sirens going off. Then it's basicly just a fight for your life scene.

I'm currently playing it and I'm at riddle/puzzle level.
I tried to switch it to combat level but I can't anymore.
I think once a player decides to play a certain level(example riddle level)
he can't switch to a new one unless he finishes the game.

The combat part...Hmm..
Well, I'm currently fighting off the monsters
with a wooden plank(that's the basic weapon) and a handgun.
It's not like some games where the player easily gets a powerful weapon.
In this game, you are completely human who's fighting with strong monsters.
I think that's what also makes the game scary and cool.

Also, this game would make you search around A LOT
and if you don't like that then you may not enjoy playing it.
In this game you would search in dark & narrow places.
Just imagine fighting 2 monsters in a dark narrow hall.

But one good thing about it is you may run from the monsters
& they won't be able to chase you since their slow.
One bad thing about it is sometimes you HAVE to face them.
Some damn monsters suddenly appear & make you scream a bit.
Overall, it's a decent game but it still depends on your preference.

Hmm I might check it out, but the thing about the wandering around to much kind of turns me away from it, I enjoy searching for objects but some games overdo it...

yah i agree , that it s not a horror movie . not even look like it !
& in the end you just damn yourself to waste your time for such a creepy , f..cked up movie
& about he end they both were dead i think !
but its a bit vague to me too .
it really is nt worthy to waste your time for it , even once !

You mean the Silent Hill where the woman and her girl got to a very creepy town? I never understood the ending.

Silent Hill has three "realms": Real World, Fog World (where you can barely see stuff, it's mostly gray and where a few monsters are.), and the Otherworld, which is the red-ish/metallic oxidation which usually starts with a fire siren.

A possibility is in the first game: there's a bad ending where you realize that Harry Mason (the protagonist) died in the car crash. Another possibility is that they indeed returned home, but are still in the Fog World of Silent Hill, unable to escape from it. let's not forget that the sequel "Silent Hill: Revelations" is coming, and Sharon is the protagonist years after the first movie.

Silent Hill, as a whole, is always pretty ambiguous to let the player (or watcher?) get their own personal conclusions of the story. There's a "core" version: We know the cult was destroyed, and Rose and Sharon left "the town of Silent Hill". Everything else is what you think it is .
