Maybe I’ve just lost it… Maybe, I just imagined the past week. It’s a definite possibility that I’ve lost my mind, right? Ok, I’m sorry, it’s just it all happened so fast. I’m… just confused I suppose.
“Hey, Rai!”
I turned around to see Dimitri, my best friend, standing before me with that usual grin on his face. Dimitri is tall for his age, with scruffy brown hair that looks as if it’s never been brushed, and to top it off he has icy blue eyes. “Hey Dimitri, what’s going on?” I questioned.
“Ah nothing,” he remarked. “I’ve just been looking for you all afternoon long. Where have you been?” he asked.
“Oh, sorry. Ah… actually, I got detention,” I practically mumbled.
“Why? What’d you do this time?” Dimitri questioned actually looking a bit curious.
“It’s nothing,” I reassured him. “More importantly,” I continued so that he couldn’t comment on the subject anymore. “I heard that Kira was going to ask Griffin out today,” I stated referring to a kid in our class. Kira is shorter than most boys, and is extremely shy. He’s kind of the bookworm type, and a teacher’s pet I might add. Griffin is more of the tough type; he goes by his own rules and if someone doesn’t like that, well that’s just too damn bad.
Dimitri covered his mouth in shock, and a smirk slid out onto his face. “Who’d you hear THAT from?” he asked, but continued before I could answer his question. “I’d love to be there to see that happen,” he joked.
I smiled, “Ya, I know. It’d sure be a sight,” I commented. “Oh, by the way, I was wondering if you’d like to come to the arcade with me tonight.”
Dimitri put his fingers on his chin as if he was in deep thought, “Hmm…” he mumbled. “Hmm…” he mumbled again. “I… guess, I suppose I can pencil you in,” he said in a teasing manner. I elbowed him in the ribs playfully.
That night he picked me up in his car, and we spent practically the whole night at the arcade. At about midnight, we decided to head home. A guy was entering just as we were leaving, and he purposely shoved Dimitri. “Watch where you’re going,” the man growled.
“Why don’t you,” Dimitri replied harshly.
“What was that?” the guy asked.
“I said,” Dimitri said clearly. “Why don’t you watch where you’re going,” he repeated.
The guy took Dimitri by the collar of the shirt and shoved him up against the wall. I glared at Dimitri panicked, and I took immediate notice to his expression. He was giving this guy his famous ‘go to hell’ look even though he was the one in danger at the moment. I moved forward going to try and help Dimitri but felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. I felt myself being thrown backward into one of the game machines nearby.
“O-ouch,” I muttered to myself as I rubbed the back of my head. I don’t clearly remember the next few minutes very well. All I know is I heard Dimitri yell, and the sound of what I think was a fist meeting a face and then everything went black.
When I woke up Dimitri was laying over me looking very concerned, almost to the point of crying. “Thank god,” he muttered as he saw my eyes open. “I was starting to think the worst was going to happen,” he stated. I looked around and realized I was in the back seat of his car. I was about to ask what had happened, but he pulled me up and into a hug. “I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again,” he promised and hugged me tighter. “I swear,” he added.
I glared at him for a moment, and was about to tell him that it wasn’t his fault and that everything was ok but… He leaned over me and very gently pressed his lips against mine forming a kiss. I felt my face burn red, and my heart began thudding in my chest. I can’t honestly say that I didn’t enjoy the kiss, but it surprised me…
To Be Continued..
.. maybe. I really look forward to feedback, and depending on that I'll decide if I want to finish it I suppose.
