What Once Was, Is No Longer.

If it wasn’t for you I could’ve lived a normal life. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have had to go through the hell I went through just for you. If it wasn’t for you my heart wouldn’t have ever broken into a million pieces. I must thank you. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have ever learned that I can’t trust a word you say. So, because of that, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart because now I know that life isn’t as easy as it once seemed.

You were my everything,
You meant the world to me.
I kept you close so that no one could hurt you,
I protected you.
I was stupid.

You always seemed so innocent.
At the time it seemed as if you’d be mine forever.
You always clung to my shirt when you were scared,
You always appeared so adorable.

I was perfectly happy,
I could’ve stayed like that forever.
Sadly, that’s not the way it turned out.
The person that I always protected caused me the most pain.

I just don’t understand what happened.
We were perfect together…
At least I thought we were.

I always gave you everything I could.
My love,
My attention,
My time,
My heart…

And yet, you turned away from me.
What did I do wrong?
When did I step out of line?
These are the questions I ask myself daily.
They no longer matter,
Because you are no longer mine.
You’re with someone else..
I hope that they give you whatever it was that I didn’t.
I hope you’re happy together.

Although I may say these things to your face,
I do not truly mean them.
Deep inside,
The once tough and brave warrior
Weeps like a small child.

The only reason I thought you might be mad is because I know some people who get angry when anyone writes anything similar to their story/lyrics/etc. I didn't think you were like that, and now I know you aren't, but I just didn't want to be yelled at, lol. I liked it. Unfortunately it applies to well to me. *wraps arms around self* And I hate it... the pain and heartache, but i have to agree... its thanks to that person that I realize I cant trust the world and not everything is as it seems or as simple. *smiles bitterly*

So I just want to say thank you for writing this, something I dont think i could have in a million years because Id rather leave my emotions untouched.
