I opened my eyelids and found myself still in the same room. My nose itched when I smelled a very pleasant scent. It was the scent of food. Also, it was so strong I could taste the flavor. 'Ramen. I haven't had ramen in a while.' Yawning, I sat up and looked around, trying to follow the scent. My eyes found the bowl of ramen in the hands of...that guy. 'I forgot to ask him for his name.'
He handed me the bowl with chopsticks placed on the rim. I stared at it, wondering if it was safe to accept it. 'Well, he did save you from those thugs. And he's lended you his own clothes, even though they are WAY too big for you. You feel fine, so it wouldn't hurt to take something to eat.'
I slid off the couch and tried to stand onto my feet. My head felt really light and the room started to spin.
"Wait, you shouldn't stand yet!" He cried, but it was too late, I was already losing balance. I closed my eyes and waited for a painful impact. Two seconds pass by and nothing happens. I opened my eyes and found myself cradled in one strong arm so close to the ground. The man sat me down and handed me the bowl.
"Here," he said, "you shouldn't stand up and walk around yet. The medicine I gave you makes you a little bit weak." I nodded and stared at the soup and noodles. Somehow my appetite wasn't with me at that moment.
"You have to eat." He told me. There wasn't any firmness in his voice. It sounded like he was begging for me to eat. "And I guess I'm going to have to watch you eat until you're finished." I reluctantly took a slurp of the noodles. Suddenly, I stuffed in another bite, and another. My hunger was so great, it was unbelievable. I stopped onced I heard him giggle.
"What?" I asked him. He shook his head and smiled at me.
"You look somewhat cute when you're eating like a pig." My heart skipped a beat. 'Cute? He thinks I'm cute?' My cheeks felt warm, so I glared at him to cover my real facial expression.
"I see..." was all I said before I finished gulping in the remaining large amounts of soup. 'What was that feeling that I felt just recently?'
"Come on," He told me. I wailed when he hoised me onto his shoulders. "You need to clean yourself up. You're hair is matted and muddy, and your skin is stained in mud. You're going to make my house all mucky by the time you're able to walk around."
He carried me out into the hallway, which was huge! It made his house look like he owns a whole story. We went through a tall door, revealing a large shower room with many large mirrors. The man threw a towel on my head. He sat me down in a shower stall and turned on the water.
"Hot!" I cried covering my face. "I still have clothes on too."
"Oops, sorry, Nao." He lowered the temperature. The water was now warm and calming. "Don't take to long in there okay. The towel in on the hook outside the door." I yawned while enjoying the soft springles falling softly on my face. My eyelids felt heavy. My body was growing tired.
"Hey, hey, don't fall asleep." He shook my shoulders. I winced and became wide awake again. "Okay, I guess I'll have to wash you."
"Hmm?" I asked and gasped when I felt his hand slowly slide his hands through the shirt to remove it. My brain clicked on when I realized what he was doing. "Ah! No, no, no, it's alright! I can do it!" I pushed him away and shut the door. I took off the clothes myself when he left. My head felt light again, I stood under the water and rubbed my head.
"I should've have stood." I muttered while trying to scrub my hair. 'That was so weird. I felt so strange whenever he tried to take off my shirt.' A light knock interrupted my thoughts.
"Nao, are you done?" That guy asked from behind the glass. I felt more relaxed after I turned off the water.
"Yeah, I'll be coming out." I replied. I cracked the door just a little bit and stuck my head out to grab the towel and wrapped it around myself.
"Well come on. I would like to do you're hair."
"...okay."
I sat uncomfortably on a tall stool while he played with my hair.
"You're tiny, but you have really long hair." He told me. I looked in the mirror and saw my hair coming down past my back. It was blue, a sea blue, and silky. I reached to touch the top after looking at it in amazement. 'I havent seen my hair in a while under all of this gunk.'
"No, let me finish first." He said shaking his finger. I waited patiently in the stool while he tamed my hair and bangs.
I took the chance of asking him the question I really wanted to say.
"What is your name?" I muttered nervously. "You asked for my name, but you left when I was about to ask for yours."
He chuckled. "Yuki. That's what everyone calls me."
"Yuki..." I repeated, so that it could stay locked in my memories forever. As the man who took me into his own home.
"Thank you." I said while playing with my fingers. "I must be a burden to you and your independent life. You even let me sleep here in your clothes for a few hours."
"Actually a few days. Don't worry about it; the truth is that you are actually pleasant to be around...except for when you slept that long. Don't scare me like that okay?" I nodded and grinned at him with a grateful expression.
"Okay, done!" He cheered and allowed me to face the mirror. My hair was detangled, trimmed and straightened. It still had its color and texture and it was still super long. I fell in love with it at first sight, especially with my new bangs. It may sound girly, but I thought it suited me.
"Thank--!" He picked my up and carried me down the hallway to a certain large door.
"Sorry, but I can't trust you walking yet." He informed me with a grin. "Here," He opened the door, "is your room."
Inside looked like the ocean underwater. The carpet felt as soft as liquid when Yuki set me down on it. The rugs were fish and the walls were painted with bubbles and sea creatures. There was another door that had a walk in closet that was bare. A mirror was framed in sea shells and stood on a wide dresser that was also empty. The bed was not too far away from the window. It had, of course, blue sheets and fluffy pillows. Long curtains hung from a large window that has its own lock. There was a ledge that had a long cushion with two small pillows.
Confused but amazed, I stared at Yuki with sparkling eyes. "This is...for me? Really? You're letting me stay?"
"You have no where to go. And it wouldn't hurt to have you living here." I leaped towards him and squeezed him tight.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I cried. Tears were forming in my eyes. I was so grateful that there was a person that actually cared. 'Maybe this guy isn't such a jerk after all.'
"No problem, but..." He picked me up and tucked me in bed so tightly, I could barely move. "You still need to rest." 'What, what, what!?' "If you don't cooperate with your recovery," He gave a look with a menacing glint in his eyes, "I will force every sleep, cooling pad, and pill in you if it's the last day I do."
I finally blinked when he patted my head and left the room. 'Yuki, I take the you not being a jerk back. You're the worst!'
"Where did I dig myself into?" I muttered. 'Help me.'
